The Center for Animal Pharmacology/Toxicology Research was established in 1996 and is registered under the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA), Ministry of Environments and Forests, Government of India for conducting animal experiments. The unit consists of in vivo, in vitro methods widening the preclinical services sector.

This Unit has successfully managed to publish 22 research articles in different journals of the national and international repute. Several abstracts from the research findings have also been presented in several international and national symposia. The department has supported Bio-OPT in effectively broadening its preclinical research service sector for almost a decade for various clients.

Infrastructure

The Department of Animal Pharmacology/Toxicology Research is supported with a central animal facility of area 3000 sq. ft. which includes separate breeding, experimental and procedure rooms. The facility is fully furnished with a centralized air handling unit and timer controlled lighting systems suitable for the rodent diurnal cycle. For all essential analysis of biological samples, a fully-fledged central instrumentation facility equipped with sophisticated instruments is also available.
